Five Minute Friday: Imagine

It's Friday! So here we are, hundreds of us, bravely writing for five minutes flat on the same prompt given by the lovely Lisa-Jo Baker. "No extreme editing; no worrying about perfect grammar, font, or punctuation. Unscripted. Unedited. Real."

This is Five Minute Friday, where writing gets real.

This weeks prompt is Imagine

GO!

"What is Heaven like?" she asks me.

Heaven is a common discussion in our home, but this day she had a lot of questions. Who will be there? What will we do? Where will we live?

She imagines a place in the sky. A castle on a cloud. A place where she is a princess and there is dessert for every meal.

I tell her that she is already a princess. A daughter of the King. And that Jesus is preparing a house just for her!

"A pink castle?"

I tell her that I'm not sure, but that it will be the most perfect place she has ever imagined.

A place with no tears or sadness. No disappointment. No fear.

Imagine that.

STOP!

Five Minute Friday

  1. Oh, precious girl! My kids ask so many questions, too, and I love those conversations. Pink castles? Hmmm, I don't know, but won't it be fun to know for sure when we get there?

    Stopping by from FMF.

  3. This is the first thing that came to mind with this prompt, too... yet it's not at all what came out of my fast-typing fingers ;) I love to imagine the amazing life He has planned for us. It is beyond anything we can possibly dream up -- we cannot even begin to fathom its greatness and wonder, and that is a beautiful thing... because we can take the most wonderful of imaginings -- pink castles and dessert all the time (your daughter and I would be best friends, I think ;)) -- and know that it will far exceed even our wildest, greatest, most beautiful dreams!!! Goodnight, friend! Loved chatting with you, as always :)

  6. It's a beautiful thing to imagine...I love this. :) My daughter (almost three) and I had our first talk about heaven this week...a friend of ours passed away. It's been interesting to hear her talk about it in the last few days..."We can't see it. 'Grandpa C' is in heaven but we'll see him again..." I just love their precious hearts and imaginations. (And I'm pretty sure there will be dessert there...I'm all for that!) Blessings and happy Friday to you! :)

  8. Bless her heart...and yours for speaking truth into her beautiful imagination. It's easy to forget that we're princesses as we grow up & adult life keeps us from taking time to imagine what it will be like to live in the perfect home with our King. I think mine might be glittery ;)

  9. This is so sweet and she is adorable. Just think, you training her with the awesome truth of who Christ is in her life prepares her for recognizing she is a daughter of the king.

  11. I love your honesty in telling her that you don't know - just that it will be perfect - and that's TRUE. Also love that you raise her as a here and now princess. No fairy-tale in that. Great post Kelly. I learned the meaning of #tweetsleeping at Five Minute Friday. Fell asleep in the middle of all the fun. Great connecting with you though.

Very beautiful. I remember picturing castles, and later years forests. Always in the clouds.
